Can I really get a car if I'm blacklisted in South Africa?

Yes. Because EzAuto rent-to-own is a rental agreement and not a credit agreement under the National Credit Act, being blacklisted does not disqualify you. we run a soft credit check that does not affect your score and approval is based on affordability.

Will renting a car help me clear my blacklisting?

Renting with EzAuto won't directly clear adverse listings on your credit profile — that's done by settling the underlying debt or through a debt counsellor. What the rental does do is get you on the road today without depending on a bank approval.

What do I need to qualify?

A valid South African ID or passport, proof of residence, proof of income (3 months payslips or 6 months bank statements if self-employed), a valid driver's licence, and a minimum gross monthly income of R14,000.

Is there a credit check?

There is a soft credit check only, and it does not affect your score. Rent-to-own is a rental rather than credit, so the decision rests on affordability — verified income in versus essential expenses out — not on your credit history.

Can I apply if I'm under debt review?

Yes. Rent-to-own is a rental agreement, so it is generally accessible while under debt review. We recommend confirming with your debt counsellor before signing.

Can I get car finance with bad credit in South Africa?

Banks decline most bad-credit vehicle applications because a credit agreement under the National Credit Act is scored on your bureau record. EzAuto is not finance: it is a rent-to-own rental assessed on affordability with a soft credit check only, which is why roughly 90% of applicants are approved. You drive from R1,750 a week, billed monthly, with an option to own the car at the end of the term.

What credit score do I need to rent to own a car?

There is no minimum score. A low score, adverse listings, a judgment or an active debt-review arrangement do not automatically disqualify you. What matters is a verified gross income of at least R14,000 a month and enough room in your budget for the rental.

Is there same-day approval for blacklisted applicants?

Applications are assessed within 24 hours of us having every document, and applicants who send all of them at once are usually assessed the same day. Approval is not the same as driving away: after approval comes the rental deposit payment, the agreement signature and handover, which together usually take 2 to 7 business days.

Can I get a blacklisted car deal with no deposit?

No. A rental deposit is required on every rental, typically from 10% of the vehicle value, and it is what brings the monthly rental down. Anyone advertising a genuine no-deposit vehicle for a blacklisted applicant is usually excluding insurance, tracking and licensing from the monthly figure. All deposit conditions are set out in your signed rental agreement.
